The Arab Republic of Egypt welcomes the adoption by an overwhelming majority of 164 states of the annual resolution it submitted to the Third Committee of the United Nations General Assembly concerning the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination. This resolution, presented by Egypt on behalf of the Islamic Group, reflects the international community's commitment to the fundamental rights of the Palestinian people, foremost among them their inalienable right to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations and international law.
The Arab Republic of Egypt affirms that the resolution clearly establishes the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination. Egypt also renews its firm commitment to supporting legitimate Palestinian rights and continuing its cooperation with sister countries and international partners in order to achieve a comprehensive settlement that guarantees the Palestinian people their aspirations for freedom and independence.
Egypt emphasizes that it will continue to work with its regional and international partners to ensure the implementation of US President Donald Trump's peace plan in a way that serves the goal of achieving security and stability and opening a real political horizon for the Palestinian people. It also stresses the importance of the effective implementation of Security Council Resolution 2803 in a way that ensures the consolidation of the ceasefire, supports reconstruction efforts, and opens a political horizon for a just and comprehensive settlement of the Palestinian issue.
